Simple

Hello my love. I guess it has been 2 weeks since I last posted. The good news about that is that it means I was home for a good long time. I really like being at home. I like being part of your routine every day.

I had decided on a particular topic a few weeks ago, but I think I am going to hold that subject for a later post. I had one of those occasions when I heard a song and the lyrics and singers voice so made me think of you I simply decided that I had to make the song the majority of my post.

I really like that I still hear songs and have them make me think of you. Funny, but I asked our youngest daughter this week if she was going to be one of those "I have a millions songs that remind me of my boyfriend" types and she laughed me off. Ironically, I am that kind of guy with you. I really wish I could write songs. Because I would write many for you. I would write the most perfect lyrics that really told you exactly how I feel all the time. I would find the perfect lyrics to fit your moods. Some to make you smile. Some to give you comfort. Some to give you strength. Some to warm your heart. But I simply do not know how. Thus the name of this blog.

This song is from the movie "Reign Over Me" with Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. The short synopsis of the movie is that Don Cheadle has a very routine family life and is having a bit of a mid-life crisis (but one he has taken no action on). He runs into Adam Sandler - his college roommate - who lost his entire family in the 9/11 tragedy. Sandler is a mess and has essentially removed all memory of his life before his loss. Cheadle and Sandler start hanging out and eventually help each other get their lives in perspective. The movie is really about how broken hearted Sandler is without his wife.

It is a pretty good movie. A bit sad, but somewhat uplifting at times (of course I thought "Pay it Forward" was uplifting). However, this was not intended to be a movie review. (I do give the move a 8 of 10 stars if that interests you at all).

The song is by an odd source. Turns out Graham Nash (not the ever alive David Crosby) sings the song. It is a song called "The Simple Man". Like every song, not every lyric fits. Like every song, the emotion in his voice is much of the reason it made me feel so compelled to share it with you.

Here goes....

I am a simple man
so I sing a simple song
never been so much in love
and never hurt so bad at the same time.

I am a simple man
and I play a simple tune
I wish that I could see you once again
across the room like the first time.

I just want to hold you I don't want to hold you down
I hear what you're saying and you're spinning my head around
and I can't make it alone.

The ending of the tale
is the singing of the song
make me proud to be your man only you can make me strong
like the last time.

I just want to hold you I don't want to hold you down
I hear what you're saying and you're spinning my head around
and I can't make it alone.

If you want to hear it here is the link on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBiPnS0-mgo

I simply love you. I think it really is that simple. After all of these years I simple love you. I couldn't make it without you. Not for a day. My sun rises and sets with you. It is as simple as that.

I love you.
