Calling all angels

I'll explain what this means tonight at dinner.  I'll explain why I posted it and where it fits.  We can discuss over Crab Legs......

Here goes.

There is a song by Train called "Calling All Angels".  I think in reality its intended to be a spiritual song about the belief in God looking over you.  But with any piece of art, it is open to interpretation.  My interpretation.  (FYI, I made not ONE but TWO different misspellings of that word).

The song speaks of the need for support.   Things like children not being alone, needing  a sign "to know you are here" and other references.  Bu there is one lyric that hits me more than others.

The singer says "we live in a world where what we want is what we want, until its ours".  The chase so to speak.  The conquest.  The victory.

It speaks to how hard we try to "get something" and what little effort we put into "keeping something".  Like love. Family. Marriage.  So many people take the steps to get those things and suddenly take them for granted.  How nice a family picture or a happy couple may look on the outside, but on the inside you know if a shinier object appeared, there would be new pictures with similar smiles, just different faces.  Because the chase is really the exciting part.

We, my love, have never had such issues.  We work so hard and so well at making this our life.  Making our love and relationship something that gets better every day.  That breathes on its own and feeds our next moments.  It gets more special everyday.

But it comes with a decision.  A decision we made so long ago.  Which is the reflected in the next lyric in the song

"I won't give up - if you don't give up"

He sings it so passionately.  With such feeling and heart.  Like he is looking straight in someones eyes during a difficult time and sharing strength.

Every tough time we have ever had together, I know we looked at each other the same way.  Every decision we made together that didn't go as we planned, we shared our strength together and got through it.  As always, it is about WE not me.

Every moment of our lives that weren't perfect.  Ones that so many other couples would have walked away from so casually.  We fought, we fought for each other.  We fought for us.  As always, is about WE not me.

Maybe its what we do best honey.  Fight for each other.  Recognize what we have and make sure it will always be there.  Count on us.  Believe in us.  Stand as us.

I have some plans for this song/thoughts.  There is some time between now and when I plan to use it, but I thought you would appreciate where my heads at right now.  It'll mean more in say - late summer.  Assuming, some other thought doesn't trump it between now and then.  :)

My Amazing Wife

Today I got a lot done.  I'm pretty excited about what I'm doing.  Its going to be really cool.

But as I work, I listen.  Listen to all the songs I've heard a million times.  They all seem to get me going in some way shape or form.  They are usually very loud, and its likely that one day I'll be deaf.  But it will be so worth it.

Song after song plays in my ears.  Some make me dance, some make me want to sing (they would be pretty shocked at the office) and some make me smile so big I can't hide my joy.

But you know what all of them do?  Each and nearly every one?

They remind me of you. 

Some have lyrics that mean something to us. 

Some mark a moment in our relationship. 

Some are songs you introduced me to and some i found on my own.

Some make me want to dance with you.

Some make me want to sing with you.

Some are already in the set list and some need to be added.

But nearly everyone reminds me what an amazing wife I have.  I can't imagine anyone else has ever been this lucky.

You are amazing.
