The little things

Ok my love here goes, my first ever poem. It is only fitting I wrote it for you.

The sweet smell of pancakes
The light of your smile
The soft part below your ear
The sound of your laugh

Its the little things that find me so....

The grasp of your hand
Fingers locked together
Your cool skin
The softness of your fingertips

Its the little things that find me so....

An inside joke only we share
A memorable story we will never forget
A song that makes us both smile
A moment trapped in time

Its the little things that find me so....

The older daughters glow
Her endless energy and joy
The younger daughters sense of humor
Her pereceptive thoughts

Its the little things that find me so....

A hope for a million more days
A reminder they will come
A safety only you can offer
A trust you will always be there

A Gift For You My Love

My wife and I have been together for nearly 20 glorious years. Its funny the things you learn about your spouse over time. I have had a few shockers. Like the time I found out that my wife had a real desire to retire to an RV (a very large RV as in recreational vehicle) and parade about the country in our old age. Not really her personality. This one still baffles me.

The other shocker was on January 25, 1997. We attended a Counting Crows concert in Dallas and Adam Duritz told the infamous story of how he had written "Good Night Elizabeth" for a girl he loved. He left town and when he came back she was gone. At that moment I found out that my wife was touched by people who could write songs. It was a watershed moment for me.

Well my love - I cannot write songs. I can barely remember the words of songs written by others. But I can give you this blog.

It is intended to be a non-stop pouring of my heart. A gift for your 38th birthday. A gift I plan on giving you for years to come.

The Anniversary Poem

Now I wake up happy – warm in a lovers’ embrace
And every time she sneezes I believe its love.
The bells ring, the days change, and I awake to the last perfect thing.

And she moves just like a little girl – I become a child and she moves my world.
The only one I dream of – you’re still the one I kiss good night.
I look at her and I see the beauty of the light of music.
Want to tell you just how good it feels, when you look at me that way.

I saw one of your pictures, there was nothing I couldn’t see, There is nothing in this world that I ever wanted more than to feel you deep in my heart.
I don’t know much, but I know one thing, and that’s I love you.

She sees shooting stars and comet tails – she’s got heaven in her eyes.
She’ll be my mirror, reflect what I am.

How I line my sky with all the silver you can use.
I love her so much; I don’t even know what planet I’m on.

Remind me that we’ll always have each other, when everything else is gone,
Love this strong, it just brings out the passion I never knew was here in me.

Love is danger, love is pleasure – love is pure – the only treasure
When silence greets my last goodbye, the words I need are in your eyes.
